Mac Sales Could Have Increased By 10% Or not, Analysts Are Not Clear

Since IDC has published the latest results based on the study of sales of Mac products during the second quarter of this year 2019. The data suggest that sales have increased by almost 10% over last year.

However, from the analytical company Gartner contradict these results. In fact, they assure that Mac sales have fallen 0.02% in this quarter.

In this article, we will talk about the data of both studies, and how PC and Mac sales have been in the second quarter of 2019.

Sales of PC and Mac in 2019

First, from IDC detail that the PC industry has sold a total of 64.9 million units in the second quarter of 2019. The figures would have increased by 4.7% over last year. And worldwide, Mac sales have been 4.07 million units. That is, we are facing an increase of 9.6% compared to the second quarter of 2018.

On the other hand, as indicated previously, the data from Gartner’s analytical study suggest the opposite. According to them, sales of Mac products have fallen slightly compared to the same period of the previous year. Gartner estimates that PC manufacturers have sold a total of 63 million units. 1.5% more than last year. So far the figures are in line with the IDC data.

But his estimates of sales of Mac products are 3.7 million units. What is the same, a decrease of 0.02% compared to the second quarter of 2019? With these figures, Apple would maintain a 6% market share. Finally, as a point of interest, Lenovo is the company that has sold more PCs, with a 25% market share.
