They Remove The Infinity Blade Saga From The App Store, Forever!

Epic Games has removed the popular Infinity Blade saga from the App Store. The three deliveries related to this title are no longer available for download on iOS and their in-app purchases have been eliminated. From the developer company, they have explained their withdrawal mentioning that “it was becoming really difficult to maintain” at a level that meets their standards.

Infinity Blade II and Infinity Blade III were three fabulous action games in which players had to get under the armor of a warrior who had to kill dozens of enemies before facing a final boss. To finish off the last enemy, the player had to improve the skills and equipment of each of the characters in his lineage.

The game mechanics of the Infinity Blade saga was quite simple, players had to slide their finger on the screen to perform attack combos, activate their defense and perform special moves.

Forever Infinity Blade!

Infinity Blade has been one of the most historic games in the App Store. The first installment was launched in 2011, and caused a before and after in mobile action games. After its irremediable success, there were many games that copied its dynamics.

Donald Mustard, Creative Global Director of Epic Games, talked about his withdrawal from the App Store:

“FROM EPIC WE WANT TO PUT THE PLAYERS FIRST AND WE WANT TO OFFER A COMPLETE EXPERIENCE IN EVERY GAME WE PUBLISH. WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF SPYJINX AND OTHER PROJECTS, IT HAS BECOME REALLY DIFFICULT FOR OUR TEAM TO SUPPORT INFINITY BLADE TO A LEVEL THAT MEETS OUR STANDARDS. ”

This announcement from Epic Games draws a grim and discouraging image in the gaming industry on iOS. If a company with the necessary resources like Epic Games cannot continue supporting this game, what will happen to the rest of the titles in the future? Will the day come when we see Angry Birds and other classics disappear?
